The KG-4120 is designed for agricultural gearboxes that see shock loads every time an implement engages. We start from a closed-die forging so grain flow follows the pinion teeth and spline, then rough turn, hob, carburize and finish grind both the journals and the gear flanks.
Grinding after heat treatment removes distortion and holds the spline-to-journal runout under 10 µm, which keeps seal wear down and stops the noise that hobbed-only shafts develop after the first season.
Common modifications include shorter overall length, a 21-tooth spline, a different pinion ratio, and zinc-nickel coating on exposed sections.
Each shaft is oiled, sealed in a VCI bag and held in a slotted foam insert so journals never touch. 40 shafts per heat-treated plywood crate (ISPM 15), 24 crates per 20' container.
